Bright Spot

I'm absolutely loving this spot in my entryway and the white closet doors for taking photos. The morning light makes this an ideal spot for capturing the best colors!

Don't these colors make you happy...especially on cold, gray days like today was (in NY, atleast...but thankfully we haven't seen snow...yet!)

Dress and Fabric Choices

I somehow managed to create this fabric collage via piknik for customers to make their dress & bloomer fabric selections. I'm always trying to find new ways to show my product without going crazy sewing and ignoring the more important things in my life. Like family, kids, home school, etc., etc. SO...we'll see if this works!

I have enough fabric to make @ 3 or more dresses from each fabric. I think it will be easy to update the collage with new fabrics when I run out of one.

The only thing that makes me laugh is that I couldn't find a way to add "normal" looking numbers in the little time that I had to create the collage. Those are "stickers" from piknik...they're birthday candles! He, he!

But it works and I'm not going to obsess over this little deal.

That's the old me...perfectionist. The new me is rollin' with it!!! (All the new me stuff is about heart changes and my relationship with Jesus and how He is makin' me new. If you wanna know more, you can meet me and my peeps here...)

This summer has been a whirlwind of activity mostly related to packing and moving our family of six to a new home. As a result, many of you know that I've not been making dolls or capes for a while. However, to celebrate feeling kind-of, mostly settled in our home (and secretly, more importantly, my sewing room - ha, ha!), it's time for a GIVEAWAY!!!

I am so blessed that my husband agreed to let me "have" the extra bedroom for my sewing room!

At least until the kiddos get older and need to spread out more...

Ahhh...I was sorta, kinda embarrassed at just how much sewing, creative, artsy stuff my loving church family helped move to this room...yeah, addict. That's what I am.


One side of the room pretty well settled...there are no pictures of the other side of the room, for good reason! Lots of boxes full of home dec stuff...when will I ever find time to hang this stuff up?!

Thrifted, vintage sheets...(oh my, I have a problem and too many great thrift stores in my area)...but they're so pretty and make such pretty things!!!

A precious baby girl was born at the end of June...Miss Josephine Quinn. Welcome to the world!

My customer asked if I'd be willing to attach the tag directly to the body in a heart shape. I am certainly willing to accommodate special requests at times...it really just depends on what the request is. I think the heart is super cute sewn directly on the doll.

Now be a sweet girl, sleep well, eat well, and let mama and daddy get a little night-time sleep...

A Family of Supers

I received a request from a mom who wanted superhero capes for her four children. As our conversation continued, she decided that everyone in the family needed a cape...mom and dad, too! It's a family of supers!!!

It turns out that dad is a real life super hero. He's a soldier and is currently deployed to Afghanistan. The plan is for him to wear his cape as a surprise for his children upon his return at Christmastime. Wow! What a sweet homecoming that will be! (And I'm not talking about the cape...)

Spending time working on these superhero capes opened my eyes to all the blessings right here at my fingertips. What must life be might like for this family?...a daily sacrifice, risk, separation, heart longings and physical longings, single-parenting, and so on. It's easy to go on about my normal day when it doesn't hit so close to home. I'm thankful for the reminder. I've spent much time praying for this particular family and others in their shoes over the past few weeks. May we all remember and pray for these families!

Superhero Capes

Never fear, the superhero capes are here!!! I'll be offering superhero capes for sale in my etsy shop on a regular basis from now on! For boys and girls! Customers choose two colors, an initial for the outside back, and can add a message tag to the inside similar to the ones hidden in a doll's secret heart pocket. The capes are reversible and come with a velcro closure. Keep watching for more listings! I'm in the process of making a whole family of supers right now!!!
